Nap Time Gnome

This is a whimsical garden gnome sculpture, approximately 12 inches long from the tip of its pointed hat to its outstretched toes. The gnome is lying on its side, in a relaxed, almost mischievous pose—head propped up on one hand, with the other resting on its rounded belly. Its knees are slightly bent, giving the impression that it’s lounging or perhaps mid-nap among the flowers.

The piece has been bisque fired, meaning it's gone through its first kiln firing and has a matte, porous white to pale beige surface. It hasn’t been glazed, so it has a soft, chalky texture that invites touch. Fine details—like the folds in the gnome’s tunic, the individual strands of its bushy beard, and the tiny smile tucked beneath its mustache—are well preserved in the crisp ceramic surface.

The gnome wears a classic conical hat, gently creased and slightly slouched to the side as though softened by time and naps in the sun. His ears poke out beneath a fringe of curly hair, and his boots are stubby, with the toes slightly upturned—perfect for comic effect.

Since it’s bisque-fired, this gnome is weather-tolerant but not weatherproof—meaning it’s suitable for a sheltered spot in the garden (like under a bush, in a planter, or near a porch), but it would do best out of direct rain or freezing temperatures unless sealed or glazed later.
